Built with technology developed for the Shelby GT350 Mustang and Ford's Cobra Jet racing program, the Aluminator 5.2 XS is a naturally aspirated, high-revving crate engine engineered for serious performance.

Its 5.2-liter cross-plane V8 produces 580 horsepower at 7,800 rpm and 445 lb-ft of torque at 4,500 rpm, delivering strong midrange power with an unmistakably aggressive top end. Each Aluminator was hand assembled by the same Ford Performance technicians responsible for building Mustang Cobra Jet drag-racing engines.

The 5.2 XS combines a Shelby GT350 aluminum block and fully CNC-ported cylinder heads with a Cobra Jet short-runner intake manifold, dual 65 mm throttle body and high-RPM pulse ring. Internally, forged Mahle pistons, Manley H-beam connecting rods, ARP2000 rod bolts, billet oil-pump gears and a forged-steel cross-plane crankshaft provide the strength required for sustained high-RPM use.

Vehicle compatibility

Designed to work with 2015–2017 Mustang GT electronics, although a custom calibration is required.

For manual-transmission installations, Ford Performance recommends the M-6017-504V Control Pack. Automatic-transmission applications require the appropriate automatic control system and custom calibration.

Installation notes

The engine does not include:

  • Vehicle wiring harness or PCM
  • Flywheel or flexplate
  • Headers

The engine-mount bosses and bellhousing bolt pattern are compatible with traditional 4.6-liter Ford modular-engine applications, making the Aluminator 5.2 XS an exceptional foundation for a premium restomod, track build or high-performance Mustang project.
